After England and France declared war, the Germans created a front line on their western frontier. Three army groups and 10 armoured divisions overran Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and France in a lightning campaign and isolated the British Expedition Corps at Dunkirk. On the 22nd June, 1940 the French capitulated in the woods by CompiƩgne. On the 19th August Canadian troops undertook a landing attempt on the Atlantic coast at Dieppe. On the 6th June, 1944 the invasion of the western allies began in Normandy. In December, 1944 the Germans ventured once again in the west and overrun them in a brilliantly planned campaign known as the Battle of the Bulge.

P.B.S. - the man behind Hitler

Genre:.....................WWII Documentary
Language:.................English - No Subs
Picture:...................B&W - Colour
Runtime:..................1Hr21Mins
Size:........................697Mb

"A symbol of Nazi cruelty and a master of cynical propaganda, Joseph Goebbels was the mastermind behind Adolf Hitler's disturbing success. Goebbels, called the "genius of spin" and the "Reich-Liar-General," was a complicated man whose attitudes fluctuated between extremes of self-pity and grandiose excess. This American Experience program, produced by Lutz Hachmeister and Michael Kloft, shows how Goebbels constantly reinvented himself through the years of his greatest success, and allows the man to speak for himself through the diaries he kept. Actor Kenneth Branagh reads the diary excerpts, revealing a chilling personality whose words justified racism, the Holocaust, and total war.

Set in the small village of Yelan, which has lain hidden in the Siberian backwoods since time immemorial, Siberiade revolves around two families, the Solomins and the Ustyuzhanins, who live in Yelan and have been feuding for as long as anyone can remember. The Solomins tended to be quite wealthy and the Ustyuzhanins poor, so that when the Russian Revolution comes along, the Solomins refuse to acknowledge it (Siberia was the White Army's centre of operations). Nikolai Ustyuzhanin is a lone warrior against them. However, it will take a new generation of the two families to resolve this conflict, and set all right.

Europa in Flammen 1939-1941

Genre:.....................WWII Documentary
Language:.................German - No Subs
Picture:...................B&W/Colour
Runtime:..................59Mins
Size:........................920Mb

The film outlines the "years of war" of the Third Reich - from 1939 up to the Capitulaton in 1945. The material is sensational: more than two hours of unknown film material. The films document the rise of armament in Germany, the Polish campaign, the invasion of Denmark and Norway, the western campaign, the war against Russia, Rommels actions in North Africa, the Ardennes offensive and the fight at the home front. However, beside the war scenes, private film can also
be seen over and over again: Herbert von Karajan in occupied Paris or the Wagner festival in Bayreuth.
