The Hawker Typhoon was an aircraft that had a troubled start. A number of problems, including an unreliable engine unit, exhaust gases escaping into the cockpit and an airframe with a tendency to collapse around the tail unit, contributed to a number of fatalities among the test pilots. Thankfully there were those who could foresee the benefits of the aircraft. Despite the threat of cancellation the project was seen through to completion with the aircraft displaying its true value in the days leading up to, during, and after, the D-Day
landings.Despite not being an easy aircraft to fly, the Typhoon is always fondly remembered by those who flew it. This DVD is both a tribute to those pilots as well as one of the most important aircraft to have been designed and built in the United Kingdom.
