Central to these three DVDs are the years 1942-1945, the time that the Dutch East Indies were occupied by Japan. Unique color material from 1941 shows the pre-war 'Our India' feeling. Authentic Japanese film shows the Japanese propaganda and the everyday life of the Indonesian people. The nationalist leader, Sukarno, wants close cooperation with the Japanese to gain the independence of its country. During the occupation, the Dutch citizens are imprisoned in internment camps. Impressive images of Allied camera crews, showing the life in the camps immediately after the Japanese surrender in August 1945.
