Documentary charting attempts to rally the French Army for a spring offensive in 1917 and bring about what Commander-in-Chief Robert Nivelle promised would be a breakthrough in 48 hours, followed by victory. However, the Germans learnt of the plans and the Second Battle of the Aisne quickly turned the packed trenches into slaughterhouses in a fiasco which caused the once proud French Army to mutiny.
